6th-Unity and Variety: A Zentangle Collaboration

In this exciting art project, we'll explore two important principles of art - unity and variety - by creating beautiful zentangle designs. Zentangles are intricate patterns made up of simple shapes and lines that, when combined, create stunning artwork. As a class, we'll work together to design circular shapes filled with unique zentangle patterns found on tanglepatterns.com. Each student will contribute their own creative design, and when we combine all our circles together, we'll create one large collaborative artwork. This project will show how individual artistic expressions (variety) can come together to form a harmonious whole (unity), demonstrating these art principles in action while allowing us to express our creativity through drawing.

1.Create a large circular/oval shape on your paper. Make it large and don't worry about it being perfectly round.
2.Next, using a pencil, fill your shape with zentangle patterns. Include at least 4 or more patterns in your circle/oval shape.
3.Outline your zentangle patterns using oil pastels or crayons.
